Shower anyone?

Salt water, humidity and sea sand can be very uncomfortable when baked on a body in the hot sun. These fresh water showers at the beaches provide a most welcome relief.

Fishing in Winklespruit.

The beach at Winklespruit, south of Durban, is very pleasant, and a lot less crowded. Also provides a lovely setting for photos. The rocks along this stretch, provide a perfect platform for fishing.

Are you serious?

A little while ago Ann from Montego Bay showed us how her city deals with potholes. Well, here is how we do it here! At least we have a warning of the obstacle course we're about to face.

Going backwards.

What did I miss? When did the new design in wheels come into fashion?

Sailing away.

Close to the Ski Boat club is this wall with very appropriate graffitti. Although it's a little faded, it's still quite visible. Not sure how much longer it will last, since this area is being revamped.

We're just not interested!

I'm beginning to feel invisible! Whats it with all the birds and them just ignoring me?

During a visit to the SPCA in Kloof, I came across this little group. The whole family are so unphased by my presence, they didn't even look up for the photo! They just went right on preening themselves.

The Goose has landed.

A few days ago, I noticed two birds walking on the grass island in the road. Even from a distance these birds didn't look quite like the rest of the ha-di-das which frequent the area.

So, I took a chance and drove closer, thinking they'd take off before I was close enough to get a photo. Not so, at first they just ignored me. So I opened the car door and stepped closer. To my surprise, they were as interested in me and my camera, as I was in them, and they crossed the road to check me out.

While the Egyptian geese do breed along the coast, they normally choose areas where there is a river or other body of water. They are geese after all. This area is residential with houses all around, so this was indeed a pleasant surprise.
