Mutual fascination.

The poodle will never miss an opportunity to visit the alpacas in the field. The alpacas in turn seem to be fascinated by this little furry creature, and line up at the gate to get a good look.

This picture was taken at the Serena alpaca farm in Mooi River - about 150km west of Durban.

Castles in the sand.

Building sandcastles is no longer simply to keep children amused!

Volleyball anyone?

Volleyball seems to be perfectly suited to the beach.

Police presence

The reason we can walk around the beachfront in relative safety, is the very visible police presence. They have done a superb job of ensuring the criminals cannot easily operate in the area anymore.

Stairs at the end of the road.

This is the new look of the beach at the end of West Street. Beautiful paving, plenty of space, clean and neat. Combine this with beautiful weather, and calm sea, and what more could one ask for?

Fit for a King.

If you haven't been to Durban's beach in the past year or so, you certainly won't recognize this area, because it is so very different. If you walk up the stairs in the center of the picture, you'll be at the beach end of West Street. The wall to the right of those stairs, is where the old aquarium once lived. On the left is the Beach Hotel, and the white building next to that is the Balmoral Hotel.

The whole area is pretty, spacious, neat and clean. What a pleasure it was to walk around here and just enjoy the beach.

Paddling Pool

The pools on the south side of West street are for the smaller children. As ou can see from this photo, the water is very shallow, but plenty deep enough if you are a tiny tot.
