Since I'm not in Durban this weekend, I thought I'd give you a glimpse of other places in my beautiful country.
At the top of Van Reenen's pass is the smallest church in the world.
The Llandaff Oratory chapel was built by his father, to honour his son, Llandaff Matthew, aged 28, who gave his life to save those of others at Burnside Colliery on March 19th 1925.
It has seating capacity for 8 people.
Tomorrow, I'll take you inside.

Sunset in Johannesburg
Having to make the trip to Johannesburg and back over a weekend, is not my idea of an exciting travel adventure. However when one is greeted by a beautiful sky and sunset, somehow it makes the effort worthwhile. Besides it gave me a photo for Skywatch Friday - take a few minutes to see what the sky looks like around the world.
When you're done with that, then head on over to City Daily Photo, and look at life in other cities of the world.

Ambassador House.
From a distance it looks like it could be a really nice place to stay. While it may have been so in it's heyday, I think thats far from the case now. A closer look shows broken windows and pealing paint.
There are a number of buildings in Durban in a similar state, and it's so sad that the owners are not inerested in the upkeep of their buildings

Quarry Road and Springfield Park.
R is for river on ABC Wednesday. If you'd like to know more take a look at Mrs Nesbitt's Place.
Today we look at the view from the back of our tall building. The river is the Umgeni, which seperates Durban from Durban North. The Blue Lagoon is at the mouth of this river (off the picture to the bottom right).
This is the site of the old Quarry which provided the slate for our houses many years ago. The course Umgeni river sand was also very popular at the time for building.
These days this area is mostly industrial and large warehouse type shops.

Phat Boyz
I thought the interior decor of the Phat Boyz restuarant in Scottburgh was simple and very pretty. It always amazes me at how much some people can do with relatively little - giving credence to the saying "less is more".
Of the biking breakfasts we have had so far, this was one of those on the top of the list - again for simplicity and quality in one meal. Certainly worth another visit.

Hilton Quarry
This week we dined at a little coffee shop in Hilton Quarry Center - a rather pretty shopping center on the edge of the now disused quarry at Hilton.
Hilton is a lovely town a little further inland from Pietermaritzburg, along the N3.
This of course is the quarry, which provides a relaxing backdrop while you enjoy your meal.
