R is for river on ABC Wednesday. If you'd like to know more take a look at Mrs Nesbitt's Place.
Today we look at the view from the back of our tall building. The river is the Umgeni, which seperates Durban from Durban North. The Blue Lagoon is at the mouth of this river (off the picture to the bottom right).
This is the site of the old Quarry which provided the slate for our houses many years ago. The course Umgeni river sand was also very popular at the time for building.
These days this area is mostly industrial and large warehouse type shops.

behind....
