After all my moaning about electricity outages, it's time to thank both our national electricty supplier, and tv broadcaster for their lack of service to us, the public. (Won't say this too loudly, in case they think it's OK to switch off during the day as well, like they did yesterday afternoon!)
Strange way to look at things? Maybe! If they were supplying good service, I'd be up late watching interesting programs. However, because most of our local TV is not worth watching, and sometimes we get nothing at all due to power cuts, I now go to sleep early, and am awake for the beautiful sunrises. The pink light which filters through gives one a really calm, peaceful start to the day.
I'm certainly happy with this trade-off, coz I feel much better for it.
Through the Transkei

Up early again, cos everyone's itching to get through the Transkei. When
the bikes start revving, you know you'd better hurry, or you could be left
behind....

Beautful! What a great way to start the day!
Thanks for the comments.
Pusa, once I'd posted, I also thought it looked a bit like a sunset, but it's definiely sunrise, and as Jana says - a great way to start the day
I'm not looking forward to coming home to SA to face these outages. Definately going to buy a genny! As I commented on my blog, why don't city office blocks turn their office lights off at night?
Hehe, I had exactly the same experience at St Francis this weekend, except I was awake by 2.30am! ho hum.... got some nice photos though! This sunrise is a stunner, the tropical vegetation frames it perfectly
wonderful.. i love it
