The alpacas of Serena Alpaca farm in Mooi River head for the fence to greet their visitors. If truth be known, they're actually after the food which accompanies their visitors.
The alpacas are sheared annually. This fleece is transformed into the most beautiful soft wool, at the small mill on the farm. When the processed in this way, each garment will be unique, because there is no guarantee of producing exactly the same blend of colour in two successive runs.
Through the Transkei

Up early again, cos everyone's itching to get through the Transkei. When
the bikes start revving, you know you'd better hurry, or you could be left
behind....

Cute Alpacas! I see ads on tv for Alpaca farms!
Well, I didn't know that there are alpacas in South Africa!
That's a beautiful peaceful scene.Interesting about the blends never being the same twice. That hadn't occured to me.
Thanks for stopping by mine, and bringing me to this lovely image.
I like these animals. Simple yet so trusting and beautiful to look at.
There are a few Alpaca farms around South Africa. However, there are not many which also process the wool, as this one does.
The alpaca's are very cute, with amazingly soft and beautifully coloured wool.
While they are quite docile, they can be quite agressive with each other at various times.
