Now you see it, now you dont.

Some days you can see forever and some days you can't.    This was the view of Durban's golden mile fom the Millenium Tower, on a hazy day.
The pier you see on the left of this pic, is at Ushaka.  If you enlarge the picture, you'll see there are 3 more piers further along at North beach.
The barely visible building on top of the far hill is Kensington Heights which is visible from all over and gives spectacular views over the town (when it's clear that is!).

Is there a specific reason that explains the haze?

While haze is normal for this time of the year it has been more hazy than I ever remember.

We're in the middle of winter, which means it's dry, warm and still. Combine this with sea air, many cars on the road, and then a number of little grass and other fires all over the place, and Voila! a haze over the whole area.

The unusual part is that it feels like it's been going on for so long, and every day is hazy. We need a little rain and wind to clear it all. Alhough not too much at any one time, otherwise the ground can't hold it and he result is devastation for some people.
