Gateway City

Its been a while since I visited Gateway Shopping Center in Umhlanga Ridge, let alone take a walk outside. One advantage of these infrequent visits to a fairly new area is that you see it afresh each time.

My new first impression was "where in the world am I"? What city is this? At first I thought Gateway was a shopping complex, but it now looks like a complete city on its own.

There are certainly many more and varied shops and merchandise available than on visits some years ago.

Inanda Dam

Inanda Dam is about 40km inland from Durban, and can be seen from the R103. This road is part of the comrades route running through the Valley of a Thousand Hills, a rather scenic, pleansant country drive.

Each week we do The Breakfast Run providing a wonderful photo opportunity while de-stressing for the week.

On a different note.... tonight was the final of Strictly Come Dancing season 4, and we say congratulations to actor Emmanuel Castis and his teacher Lindsey Muckle for their well deserved victory. They had my support from the beginning and their hard work and commitment meant we were never disappointed. Well done guys.

Kill the remote.

Tealk my African Grey thinks the TV remote is his worst enemy, and at every opportunity should be beaten into submission. I have to find some way to distract him, while I rescue the remote, otherwise it would be my turn next.

After having his photo taken, I think he's added the camera to his list!

Bring back the sun.

Sunflowers are always such happy looking flowers.

No dial tone.

On one of our inland bike trips we stopped at the Inchanga Hotel for tea. In the foyer was this old phone. Not surprising to find it's no longer in service.

Painted Horses.

Decorating your ride is becoming more and more popular these days. Sometimes it's adverts as in the old days, and sometimes it's just for decoration. This one of the horses is rather well done.
